1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Cookies can remember a session, your filter selections, or simply your dark-mode preference. Some cookies are essential — without them the site cannot work. Others are optional and you can refuse them.
2. Strictly necessary cookies
- session_id — randomly generated identifier for your shopping cart and form state. Expires when you close the browser tab.
- csrf_token — security token to prevent cross-site request forgery on the contact form and chat widget. Session lifetime.
- nav_state — remembers whether you have the mobile burger menu open while navigating. Lifetime: 1 hour.
These cookies cannot be turned off — they are required for the basic operation of the marketplace and chat. They contain no personal information beyond your session.
3. Preferences cookies (optional)
- shop_filters — remembers your last-used shop filters (game, rarity, max price). Lifetime: 30 days.
- theme — remembers your colour-scheme preference if you switch it. Lifetime: 365 days.
- chat_intro_seen — stops the chat widget greeting from auto-popping on every page. Lifetime: 30 days.
You can clear preferences cookies any time through your browser settings. Doing so simply resets the related preference to default.
4. Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first European analytics provider that does not set cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information. It records aggregated page views and bounce rates only. No cross-site tracking.
5. Third-party cookies (embedded streams)
The Streams page embeds Twitch and YouTube players. When the embed loads, those platforms set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. We have no control over the cookies set by Twitch or YouTube. If you load a page with an embed but never start the stream, the embedded iframe may still set cookies — to fully avoid those cookies, decline them at the platform level.
6. Payment processor cookies
Stripe, PayPal and BitPay set their own cookies during checkout. These are strictly necessary for fraud prevention and are governed by the respective processor's privacy notice. They never receive your shopping history, only the order in progress.
7. Managing cookies
You can review and delete cookies set on sieraden-online.com via your browser settings. Major browsers offer clear, per-site controls in their Settings › Privacy section. Deleting strictly necessary cookies will sign you out and reset your cart; deleting preferences cookies resets your filters and chat greeting.
8. Do Not Track
We respect the DNT browser signal where it applies. Because we do not run cross-site advertising trackers, DNT has limited practical impact here, but if your browser sends it we will skip optional preferences cookies until you opt in explicitly via the cookie banner.
9. Updates
If our cookie inventory changes, we will update this page and the "last updated" date. Material additions will trigger a fresh consent prompt the next time you visit.
10. Contact
Questions about cookies should go to privacy@sieraden-online.com. Our Privacy Officer responds within 30 days under PIPEDA.
